Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

One person died and another sustained grave injuries after a speeding car hit the motorcycle from behind, near Dari Phata, on Phulambri to Sillod road, on April 16 at 3 am. The name of the deceased is Shaikh Munaf Shaikh Hameed (55, Phulambri).

It may be noted that a resident of a slum near Dari Phata, Raju Ambadas Shinde (28), ended his life in his house on Tuesday midnight. On learning about it, Raju’s elder brother, Babasaheb Shinde, told his neighbour Shaikh Munaf to accompany him and also called an autorickshaw. Later on, by placing the unconscious Raju in the auto, Babasaheb and Munaf were riding on the motorcycle towards a private hospital. The doctor in the hospital declared Raju dead.

Later on, the body of Raju was placed again in the auto and sent home. While Munaf and Babasaheb were riding behind the auto. While they were going home, a speeding car proceeding from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Sillod (MH 19 EA 1550) hit the motorcycle from behind at Dari Phata. The impact of the accident was so severe that Munaf died on the spot, while Babasaheb sustained grave injuries. He was shifted to a private hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He is undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, Raju, who has ended his life, is survived by his parents, wife, two daughters and one son. While the good Samaritan Munaf leaves behind a family comprising a wife, two sons and three daughters.

After the accident, the car driver fled with the vehicle. Hence, the people standing at the spot alerted Phulambri police, who then further alerted Wadod Bazar police and the car was stopped near Pharshi Phata. On seeing the police, the car driver again fled away, leaving his car. Phulambri police have registered a case and launched a hunt to trace the driver.
