Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Holi and Dhulivandan are celebrations marking the arrival of the spring season. While lighting the Holi fire and playing with colours, the MSEDCL urged the citizens to take necessary precautions regarding electrical safety so that they could enjoy the festival safely.

While lighting the Holi fire, ensure that there are no electrical wires or distribution transformers nearby or overhead. Otherwise, the flames from the fire could cause the wires to melt and fall, leading to untoward accidents. Besides, in areas where electrical wires are underground, make sure to light the fire at a safe distance to prevent the underground wires from being affected by the heat. It is advisable to use open spaces for lighting the fire.

Similarly, while celebrating Holi, care should be taken to ensure that water sprays do not reach the electrical wires. It is also advised not to throw coloured balloons. Play with colours at a safe distance from areas where electrical distribution transformers and other similar equipment are installed. While playing with colours, there is a risk of accidents if you touch a power pole with a wet body. Therefore, avoid touching electric poles. Also, ensure that water does not accumulate around the electric poles.

When playing with colours indoors, protect electrical meters, plugs, wires, and devices from water. Do not touch electrical switches with wet hands. As the festival is of joy, MSEDCL has urged everyone to take necessary precautions to ensure safety and double the joy of celebrating the festival.
