Aurangabad, Oct 31:

The pandemic situation had started to unlock in phases. However, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) continues to witness the rush of consumers, who are repeatedly making rounds of the office, for correction and reduction in average bills posted to them against energy consumed during lockdown period.

Earlier, MSEDCL had assured of correcting the average bills (of three to five months) after resuming meter-reading. During the lockdown, many consumers sent their meter-readings through smartphones, but they sustained a shock on receiving hefty bills in their hands. It may be noted that those who had not sent the reading also complained of the same.

One consumer of Jawahar Colony said, " Earlier, I used to get a monthly bill of around Rs 1,000. MSEDCL posted the bill of double the amount of previous bills to me during the lockdown. We are also unaware of when the meter-reader comes. The photo of the electricity meter is also not printed on the bills."

Meanwhile, the disappointed consumers having a dispute over bills avoid paying the bills for the past four to five months. Meanwhile, MSEDCL has claimed that it is posting the energy bills as per meter reading. If there is any complaint, the office is redressing it.
