The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) today has claimed before the guardian minister Subhash Desai that the Mumbai-Nagpur Super Communication Expressway (or Samruddhi Mahamarg) will be thrown open for vehicles between Nagpur and Nasik by May 2021. The expressway of length 110 km passes through the district.

Desai today held a meeting to review the progress of NH211, Samruddhi Mahamarg and other roads and told the offices concerned to plan the works to maintain the deadlines of the contract.

MSRDC superintending engineer B B Salunke claimed to have planned to open the Samruddhi Mahamarg from Nagpur to Nasik for vehicles from May 1, 2021.

The collector Sunil Chavan, commissioner of police Nikhil Gupta, municipal commissioner Astik Kumar Pandey, ZP chief executive officer Mangesh Gondawale, sub-divisional officer Dnyanoba Banapure, SDO Swapnil More, Sillod''s Brijesh Patil, deputy engineer V N Chamle, MSRDC executive engineer Suresh Abhang, police officer Vishal Nehul, AMC city engineer S D Panzade, project director of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Ajay Gadekar, were present in the meeting.

Desai also stressed on the need to undertake repairing of pathetic roads. Hence he told PWD, NHAI to focus on repairing Vaijapur-Aurangabad Road. Desai directed to complete technicalities and undertake the repairing works on priority, apart from other important roads of the city.

" The NH211 of 121 km passes through the district. Of which, the development of 37 km has been completed. Meanwhile, the road from Karodi to Aurangabad and Karodi to Telwadi will also be completed, soon. Besides, the office will undertake the process to repair Vaijapur road soon," said NHAI project director Ajay Gadekar in the meeting.

The guardian minister said that he would inspect the Samruddhi Mahamarg in December. The length of road in the district is 110-112 km and 120 metres wide. The interchange toll plazas are proposed at Shendra, Sawangi, Maliwada, Hadas Pimpalgaon and Jambhargaon. The speed of vehicles on six-lanes will be 150 kmph, and the public facilities will be available on every 50 km gap.
