Jalna: In a tragic incident, a driver lost his life on the Samruddhi Mahamarg near Jamwadi village, when he dozed off at the wheel and his tempo collided with the vehicle in front, causing it to overturn. Another tempo following the crashed vehicle also overturned, but fortunately, its driver survived. The incident took place on Friday early morning.

The deceased has been identified as Gulab Kalu Ade (50, Halvira Tanda, Jintur tehsil). He was driving a tempo (bearing number MH-12-LT-6062) towards Nagpur on the Samruddhi Super Expressway. As the vehicle approached Channel Gate No. 364/400 in the Jamwadi area early Friday morning, Gulab Ade reportedly dozed off, resulting in a collision with the vehicle ahead. The impact caused him to lose control, and the tempo overturned. Gulab sustained grave injuries and died on the spot.

Another tempo (bearing no. MH-40-CM-4474) following closely behind also overturned, but its driver, Amit Ramdas Mishra, a resident of Sultanpur (Uttar Pradesh), escaped unhurt. Upon receiving the information, PSI Ashok Kale and his team and personnel from the Maharashtra Suraksha Bal’s Rathod and Kharat rushed to the scene. In-charge officer Ramdas Nikam also arrived and, with the help of his team, cleared the damaged vehicles from the Mahamarg.

Driver’s body was removed using cutter

The body of the deceased driver was trapped inside the vehicle cabin. With the help of the RPV team, police used a cutter to open the cabin and retrieve the body. The body was then sent to a government hospital for postmortem.
