Aurangabad, Nov 28:

The signals were closed at Akashwani Chowk on Jalna Road everyday between 6 pm and 8 pm, and only straight traffic was used on experimental basis to avert the frequent traffic jams. Now, the experiment received the positive results and hence the traffic department has decided on Saturday to continue this provision hence forth.

The Akashwani Chowk experienced frequent traffic jams due to the maximum traffic between 6 pm and 8 pm. The traffic department from November 21 implemented an experiment to keep the signals closed between 6 pm and 8 pm everyday and allowed only straight traffic on both the lanes. The experiment yielded positive results and the jams were averted. Hence, this system will be continued hence forth. The vehicles coming from Trimurti Chowk and going towards Maheshnagar should take a U-turn from Mondha Naka Fly Over and the vehicles coming from Maheshnagar and going towards Trimurti Chowk should opt for U-turn from Seven Hills fly over, appealed ACP Suresh Wankhede.
