Aurangabad, Nov 18:

The Novel coronavirus test of 10,414 teachers will be conducted before reopening 1176 schools of standard 9th to 12th in the district.

It may be noted that the schools and junior colleges were shut down with the spread of COVID 19 and implementation of lockdown began in March end.

The schools which have classes 9th to 12th will be reopened from November 23.Education officer (secondary) Dr B B Chavan on Wednesday said that RTPCR test of 10,414 teachers from 1176 schools would be done before coming Monday.

There will be a challenge before the health department to carry out a test of nearly 2,500 teachers per day.

An online meeting of bloc education officer, tehsil health officer and education department officers was organised from 10 am to 11 am today.

Later, Education Commissioner Vishal Solunke held a review meeting from 11 am to 12 noon. EO B B Chavan and EO (primary) Surajprasad Jaiswal interacted with 500 headmasters today on the schools reopening planning.

The school management committee will have to clean and disinfect school premises and make available the thermal gun, pulse oxymeter, mask and sanitiser to examine students before reopening the school.

Panchayat Department has asked Panchayat Samitis (PSs) in rural areas to make required materials available to them while in city areas, Aurangabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner is making these items available.

“If the GPs don’t provide the materials to the school management committee, the school administration will have to purchase the items,”Dr Chavan said.

Around 25 to 30 per cent parents appear interested to send their children to schools. Most of the students were asked to bring parents consent letter while coming to school.

Chavan said that around 100 pc attendance is expected on the first day while some parents will send their wards after a few days.
