Aurangabad, April 24:

The City Crime Branch, on suspicion, seized a truck laden with building steel amounting Rs 2.5 lakh on Friday night. The police have arrested a scrap vendor and the truck driver in this connection. The arrested have been identified as truck driver Shaikh Shafiq Shaikh Chand Pasha (41, Indiranagar, Baijipura) and scrap vendor Shaikh Javed Shaikh Kadar (35, Misbah Colony, Padegaon).

Under the guidance of Crime Branch PI, Avinash Aghav, a police team including PSI Manoj Shinde, ASI Syed Mujeeb, Gajanan Mante, Milind Bhandare, Bhavsingh Chavan, Sunil Mote, Rahul Kharat and others were patrolling on April 23. At around 3 am, they received an information that a scrap vendor of the Green Gold Enterprises is loading stolen steel in a truck in Padegaon area. The police team raided the shop and found that Shafiq and Javed had loaded a truck with the steel weighing around 8295 kgs and amounting Rs 2,48,850. The vendor was telling that he purchased the steel from the small scrap vendors but did not have any proof to prove it. The police suspected that the steel was stolen from the site of the Samruddhi Mahamarg work. The police have seized the steel and truck amounting Rs 1.5 lakh and arrested the accused.
