The Aurangabad division bench has issued directives to the police to take action against the persons selling or possessing nylon manja.

The Pundliknagar as per the orders of the commissioner of police, booked seven shopowners for keeping nylon manja in their possession in the police station’s jurisdiction. The shopkeepers have been identified as Vijay Jeevan Badawane (31, Vijaynagar Chowk), Pravin Arun Chavan (22, Guruduttanagar, Garkheda), Vijay Ajay Nagloi (19, Hanumannagar), Ashish Sunil Shumbh (19, Guruduttanagar), Nilesh Babulal Mehta (30, Bharatnagar), Akash Raju Kale (23, Ganeshnagar) and Mohan Waman Kewat 940, Vishrantinagar). Prohibitory action is being taken as per the orders of the commissioner of police to prevent the sale of nylon manja in the shops, said API Ghansham Sonawane.

Meanwhile, the Waluj MIDC police on Thursday booked three manja sellers and seized manja amounting around Rs 8,500 from them at the Waluj Mahanagar area. The police team raided a shop at Ranjangaon area on Thursday morning and arrested Vijaykumar Baburao Borhade (42, Ranjangaon) and seized 25 bundles of nylon manja amounting Rs 7,500 from him. Similarly, Shaikh Abrar Mukhtar was arrested from Salampurenagar, Pandharpur and seized manja worth Rs 1,050 and Ramesh Shelke at Bajajnagar with manja amounting Rs 1,200.
