Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The police administration with the help of the Mahavitaran company has started discontinuing the electricity supply of drug peddlers if they are defaulters or have illegal connections.

Police will also demolish illegally constructed houses of drug peddlers. It may be noted that police took repeated action and sent drug smugglers to jail. However, they did not mend their ways.

So, the police have started directly snapping the electricity supply of such criminals if their electricity bills are outstanding and the connection is unauthorised.

In the first phase on Saturday, the unauthorised electricity connection of seven criminals at Baluch Gali, Naregaon, was cut off.

The Police Commissioner is making every effort to stop drug addiction in the city. In six months, 176 cases were registered against those who consumed and sold drugs. Police conducted a raid for the first time in the notorious Baluch Galli in Naregaon.

It was found that many notorious drug smugglers had taken unauthorised electricity connections. But, the employees of Mahavitaran did not dare to take action against them due to fear. After this matter was brought to the notice of Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar, he did correspondence with Mahavitaran and undertook a campaign under police protection.
