Aurangabad, Nov 4:
Smiles prevailed on the faces of retired primary teachers of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) schools, as they will be getting revised pension as per fifth pay commission recommendation, after 15 years. Thanks to the District Pensioners Association (DPA) for taking up their issue, on Monday.
The revised pension will be benefitting 117 retired teachers (or their families as 25 of them have died in hope). The state government and the AMC share the salary or pension of teachers on 50:50 per cent basis. Hence the state government had released Rs 22.95 lakh (its share), and it got deposited into the AMC''s exchequer. The festival is around the corner, but the civic officers were delaying in transferring the amount into individual bank accounts of these retired teachers.
To pursue the matter, the DPA delegation led by Vasant Sabnis met the municipal commissioner A K Pandey on November 2 and narrated their grievance. Pandey immediately ordered the education officer and the chief accounts officer to transfer the amount received from the government on priority. Accordingly, the issue gained momentum, and the money transfer got started.
DPA delegation comprising N A Ghughe, Janardhan Amrutkar, J B Shewale and few retired primary teachers also requested the civic chief to release the 50 per cent share of AMC as soon as possible.
