Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

An objectionable situation came to light on Wednesday when a section of nearly 3-feet of a newly constructed bridge near the Samaj Kalyan Colony in Dhorkin was demolished to lay a water pipeline, claiming that it was causing an obstacle in laying the water supply pipeline for the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar city.

A parallel water pipeline is being laid to supply water from the Jayakwadi Dam to the city. The work on the pipeline has been underway in Dhorkin for several months. In certain areas of the village, road widening work has been completed. A large bridge has been constructed near the above Colony in Dhorkin, and the parallel water pipeline passes through this bridge.

Due to obstacles in laying the parallel water pipeline across the road because of the bridge, the workers involved in the project demolished nearly a three-foot section of the underside of the bridge. Besides, the iron rods used in the construction of the bridge were cut using a machine. Afterwards, a tunnel was created, and the pipeline was laid through it. Upon receiving this information, when the scribe inquired with the concerned personnel, they behaved in arrogance and also prevented from taking photographs. This has raised questions about why such actions are being hidden.

Question raised on bridge's strength

As the four-lane work on the Paithan-Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar route is underway, a large bridge has been constructed on this road, which sees heavy traffic, including a large number of heavy vehicles. This has raised concerns about whether the bridge's strength could be compromised in the future, and whether the bridge could suffer damage. Questions have also been raised about whether the contractor obtained permission from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials to demolish the underside of the bridge.
