Aurangabad, Jan 30:

MP, Imtiyaaz Jaleel alleged that a scam of around Rs 100 crores have done by illegally transferring the Wakf Board lands in the names of wealthy people and demanded strict action against them and the officers responsible for it.

Briefing a press conference on Saturday, Jaleel said the Wakf Board land on Jalna Road was illegally transferred in the name of a company owned by Kailas Bafna, Jugalkishor Tapadiya and Raju Tanwani in 1995. They bribed the officers of the Municipal Corporation, Registry Office and Land Record office and the Muttavalli of the Wakf Board for it. This scam is of around Rs 100 crores but the Wakf Board was paid only Rs 6 lakh, of which the Board received only 1.5 lakh while the Muttavalli got Rs 4.5 lakh, he said.

As per the laws, the Wakf land cannot be transferred without the NOC of the Wakf board. This land is used for the welfare of the poor, orphans and widows. However, the registry office had transferred the land without verifying the NOC. Shopping Malls and other commercial establishments have been constructed on this land now.

Information has been provided to the state home minister Anil Deshmukh when he was in the city on Friday. He has directed the commissioner of police to investigate the matter thoroughly, Jaleel informed.

This is not the only Wakf land in the city which has been transferred illegally. There are several such cases and we have started drive against such illegal transactions and we are gaining the documents.

We demand that criminal cases should be filed against those responsible in this matter otherwise around 1000 activists from all over the Marathwada region will initiate an hunger strike from February 26, Jaleel cautioned.
