Aurangabad, Nov 3

Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested the president of Shri Tulja Devi Shikshan Prasarak Mandal at Jalna near here, while accepting a bribe of Rs 34,500 from a peon.

The accused has been identified as Shriram Sairam Rathod (59), a resident of Income Tax Colony, Jalna.

In his complaint, the peon working in a residential school run by the above Mandal at Nagewadi, five km away from Jalna town, stated that during the coronavirus lockdown, Rathod told him to stay at home.

However, after four months, when he reported for duty, Rathod demanded Rs 72,000 from his salary. The peon gave Rs 26,500 to Rathod, however, the latter insisted on Rs 34,500 more and threatened him to sack from his job.

The peon then approached ACB sleuths, who laid a trap and caught Rathod red-handed while taking Rs 34,500 at his residence.

The trap was carried out by police inspector Sangram Tate, police personnel Dnyandev Zumbad, Sachin Raut and Krishna Tehte, under the guidance of deputy superintendent of police Ravindra Nikalje.
