Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A teacher was booked with Cantonment Police Station on Friday for beating up a female student of the second standard with a stick on reason of giving a seat to her bench partner.

The girl's mother lodged a complaint with the Cantonment police on Friday. The complainant’s daughter studies at Holy Cross English School. After her daughter returned home on March 24, she was silent.

She was also reluctant to change her clothes. Suspicious, the mother took her into her confidence and found that the girl’s left hand was injured. The girl told her mother that the Marathi teacher hit her on the head, back, and hands because she spoke about giving a seat to her bench partner.

The parents rushed to the school. The teacher tendered an apology to the parents. However, the angry parents immediately lodged a complaint at the Cantonment Police Station. A case was registered against the teacher.
