A 15-year-old boy was killed after the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a speeding private bus in Jaybhavani Chowk of Waluj at 6 am on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Kunal Ramesh Ravankar (15, resident of Indraprastha Colony, Bajajnagar). According to the police, Kunal and his friend Dashrath Ramchandra Muthe (18) had set out on a two-wheeler (MH-20-AW-4497) for a walk on Sunday morning. At 6 am, a private bus (MH-15-EF-0072) coming from BSNL godown hit his motorcycle at Jaybhavani Chowk in Bajajnagar. The pillion rider Kunal came found under the wheel of the bus and fell unconscious. Dashrath Muthe, who was riding a two-wheeler, was seriously injured.

Meanwhile, traffic branch PI Sheshrao Udar, police sub-inspector of Waluj MIDC police station Prashant Gambhirrao rushed to the spot and took the injured to GMCH for treatment where the casualty department doctors checked and declared Kunal dead. A case of accidental death has been registered with the MIDC Waluj police station. Kunal was studying in Class X at Swami Vivekananda School in Bajajnagar. The bus driver fled the spot seconds after the accident.
