A thief, pretending to be a customer, took advantage of a jeweller’s momentary distraction and fled with two tolas of gold recently.

Sayaji Gidde owns a gold jewellery shop at Jai Bhavani Nagar Chowk. On the evening of Wednesday, a man, approximately 40-45 years old, entered the shop and requested to see a gold wire and an amulet. Sayaji began showing him the requested items. Seizing the opportunity, the thief deliberately dropped a gold wire on the floor. As Sayaji bent down to pick it up, the thief quickly grabbed a three-gram gold bowl, a two-gram gold ornament, a half-gram bali (earring), a nine-gram pair of earrings, a three-gram pair of tops, and 2.5-gram Ambur tops from the counter and ran away.

His accomplice was waiting outside on a two-wheeler, and the duo sped away immediately. A case has been registered at Mukundwadi Police Station, and officer Babasaheb Kamble is investigating the incident.
