Aurangabad, Dec 14:

The financial scam in the non-transportation department at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) was unveiled an year back. Now, the Transport commissionerate has taken cognizance in this regard and a team from the commissionerate is conducting the audit at the RTO. Lokmat Times had published a news on October 31, 2019 about the scam and the RTO set up a committee to inquire into the matter and also conducted the financial audit. However, no action was taken in this matter so far. Now, the Corona Crisis has reduced conversably, the transport commissionerate has taken serious cognizance of this financial scam and a team has started the financial audit at RTO. The audit will continue till December 18. Now, everyone is eagerly waiting for the results of the audit.

What was the scam?

Life time tax was recovered from many vehicles, but the receipts given were of few thousands as compared to the tax rates. The vehicles seized by the financial institutions were transferred by clearing the mortgage with the collaboration of the representatives at the RTO.
