Aurangabad, Dec 17:

A four-day audit was carried out by a team from the transport commissionerate in the case of misappropriation of lakhs of rupees of the government and financial irregularities in the non-transportation department Regional Transport Office (RTO). Now, everyone is eagerly waiting for the results of the audit.

The case involved showing tax payment of multiple vehicles, lifetime tax was recovered from many vehicles, but the receipts given were of few thousands as compared to the tax rates. The vehicles seized by the financial institutions were transferred by clearing the mortgage with the collaboration of the representatives at the RTO. The revelation came from a report submitted by three assistant regional transport officials. Lokmat Times had published news on October 31, about the scam and the RTO set up a committee to inquire into the matter and also conducted the financial audit. A team from the transport commissionerate has been investigating the matter for the last four days. RTO Sanjay Metrewar said the team verified several documents.
