Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal, on Monday, organised a protest in front of the District Collector's office demanding the removal of the tomb of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb at Khuldabad. In light of the protest, a large police presence was deployed around the district collectorate. The agitators submitted a memorandum through district collector Deelip Swami to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
In the memorandum, Bajrang Dal mentioned that the tomb of Aurangzeb is located in Khuldabad, a small town in the district. Aurangzeb originally passed away in the Nashik district, and later, his tomb was constructed in Khuldabad. It was stated that Aurangzeb had carried out brutal invasions across India and inflicted significant atrocities on Hindus. The tomb of this Mughal emperor symbolizes torment, and therefore, it should be demolished. The memorandum warned that if this is not done, the Kar Sevaks will take action to remove the tomb. In response to the protest, a police presence was maintained in the vicinity of the district collector's office. The District Collector also reviewed the security arrangements in Khuldabad with the Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinay Kumar Rathod.
