Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A video went viral on social media claiming that a fire broke out at the Gautala Wildlife Sanctuary near Autram Ghat in the Chalisgaon Ghat on Wednesday.

Many expressed fear of a threat to wildlife. People started enquiring with the Forest and Wildlife Department.

It was revealed at the time that a 'fire line' was being set up to remove the burnt grass from the roadside in the morning to prevent fires, and it had been going on since Wednesday morning.

This work is being carried out under the supervision of forest guards, forest labourers, and officials who are keeping a close eye on this and ensuring that the fire does not spread towards the sanctuary. This has been ensured.

“To prevent fire caused by accidentally throwing bidis and cigarettes on the road, this precaution must be taken in the presence of staff during the summer to prevent damage to the forest and wildlife,” said Mohan Naikwadi, divisional forest officer.
