Shinde Sena leader and MP Shrikant Shinde on Sunday said the party, despite performing well in the recent Lok Sabha, Assembly and several local body elections, will introspect over its poor show in the Zilla Parishad and Municipal Corporation polls and take corrective steps.
He was speaking after a meeting of party office-bearers and workers from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna at Surya Lawns on the bypass. Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat, Industries Minister Uday Samant, Minister Gulabrao Patil, MP Sandipan Bhumre, MLAs Abdul Sattar, Ramesh Bornare, Pradeep Jaiswal, Vilas Bhumre, Sanjana Jadhav, Hikmat Udhan, contact chief Vilas Parkar, district chief Rajendra Janjal and others were present. Shinde said the party maintained a high strike rate even while contesting fewer seats in municipal council and ZP polls. “We will analyse defeats, identify shortcomings and focus on strengthening the organisation,” he said. He added that the SIR programme has been launched, with district-level mapping underway and training being given to ensure voters’ names are not deleted from electoral rolls. Constituency-wise meetings are ongoing and will soon be held at municipal and ZP levels to enable two-way dialogue with workers.

Shinde also announced support to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, to be introduced in Parliament on April 16, stating that while Congress could not pass it earlier, the NDA government has brought it forward. Before the meeting, Shinde and other leaders paid tribute to veteran singer Asha Bhosle.
