Aurangabad, Dec 12:

A woman cost dearer for uploading an advertisement to sell a table and a stand on OLX. The cyber crooks posing as customers duped the woman by sending a QR code and withdrew Rs2,95,503 from her bank account. A case has been registered at the Pundliknagar police station.

Complainant, Vaibhavi is working in a private company at Pune. She came to her parents at Garkheda area since the past few days. On December 6 at around 2.30 pm, she uploaded an advertisement on OXL to sell the old table and stand. After some time, she received a call from a woman, who inquired about the table. Later, a person named Madan Sharma called her and asked her about the table. She told the price of the table and stand Rs 2,750. Later, he send her a QR Code and asked her to scan the code so that the money will be transferred in her account. Accordingly, she scanned the code, but Rs 2,95,503 were withdrawn from her account through Google Pay and Netbanking. She asked the accused on several occasions to return the amount but he did not pay. Hence, Vaibhavi lodged a complaint on December 11 in this regard.
