International Women’s Day, dedicated to recognizing women's contributions, was celebrated across the city on Saturday with various events. However, for the women conductors, mechanical staff, and mechanics of the State Transport (ST) Corporation, the day remained the same as usual filled with hard work, responsibility, and unwavering service to passengers. Acknowledging their dedication, the ST administration honoured them for their commitment.

Women in the ST Corporation are not just bus drivers or ticket collectors; they form the backbone of the system. From ticket checking at bus depots to bus maintenance, they work shoulder-to-shoulder with their male colleagues. To honour their efforts, a felicitation ceremony was held at the Central Bus Depot at 1 pm, where senior depot manager Ajay Patil presented bouquets to female clerks, assistant mechanics, and women conductors. Present on the occasion were female clerks Anjali Perapalli, Kavita Pisote, assistant mechanics Pragya Wankar, Ashwini Khaire, Pranjali Bansode, Gayatri Chaudhary, and Chandrakala Gavad, along with assistant workshop superintendent Akshay Sonawane, Omprakash Kakde, and assistant traffic inspector Babasaheb Salunke. Women conductors and female passengers at the bus station were also honoured with flowers.
