Coronavirus in India: Indigo airlines announces 25 percent salary cut for all employees
IndiGo CEO Ronojoy Dutta announced pay cut for all employees, as he himself will take 25 per cent cut in salary. In a official statement Dutta said, "With precipitous drop in revenues, the very survival of airline industry now at stake," said IndiGo CEO while announcing pay cut. Dutta added that senior vice presidents and above are taking 20 per cent pay cut; vice presidents, cockpit crew taking 15 per cent pay cut.
Yesterday, GoAir had revealed that they are issuing termination letters to some of its employees who are on contract. Coronavirus has infected more than 2,00,000 people and killed more than 8000 across the world. Of these, China has over 80,800 positive cases while Italy's tally stands over 27, 900. Total cases in India have risen to 174, as per the Union health ministry with 3 people dead.
