England’s chase started poorly. Both openers were dismissed cheaply, leaving the team at 29 for two. Marufa Akter (2-28) and Fahima Khatun (3-16) struck key blows for Bangladesh, but Knight steadied the innings with Nat Sciver-Brunt. When further wickets fell, Knight paired with Charlie Dean, who remained 27 not out, to put together an unbeaten 79-run stand.

The victory highlighted England’s strength in spin and the calmness of their experienced batter. England will next face Sri Lanka in Colombo on Saturday. Bangladesh will play New Zealand in Guwahati on Friday.
