England's white-ball regulars including captain Eoin Morgan have returned for the T20I series against Pakistan after completing their required period of self-isolation following a Covid-19 outbreak in the squad before the ODI series. Morgan, Jos Buttler, were deemed as close contacts after it emerged that three players and four support staff members from the contingent originally picked to take on Pakistan in the ODIs tested positive for Covid-19. That meant the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had to name a revised squad led by Ben Stokes for the ODIs, which the hosts still ended up sweeping 3-0.

Saqib Mahmood and Lewis Gregory have been rewarded for their stellar performances in England's 3-0 ODI series win over Pakistan. Mahmood was named Player of the Series in the Pakistan ODIs, after claiming nine wickets at 13.66 in the three matches. Stokes, however, has been granted a rest. Also missing from the T20I squad that played Sri Lanka are Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, Mark Wood, Liam Dawson and Sam Billings. Head coach Chris Silverwood too has been granted a break with the head coach duties to be taken up by Paul Collingwood. The first T20I series starts on July 16 at Trent Bridge with subsequent games at Headingley (July 18) and Old Trafford (July 20).

Squad: Eoin Morgan (c), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Jake Ball, Tom Banton, Jos Buttler, Tom Curran, Lewis Gregory, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Dawid Malan, Matt Parkinson, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, David Willey
