Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for four matches of the ongoing Dhaka Premier League for his unruly behaviour on Friday. He had shown dissent against umpire’s decisions, not once but twice, kicking and uprooting the stumps during the match. He was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club in the game against Abahani Limited. The all-rounder also got into a scuffle with the opposition coach Khaled Mahmud who is also the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director. However, Shakib had apologised to the officials, fans and the teams for his conduct and admitted to have ruined the game. Shakib, who was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club, against arch-rival Abahani Limited. In the match, being played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mohammedan Sporting scored 145/6. Shakib, their captain, top-scored with 37 off 27 deliveries. In return, Abahani were 31/3 in 5.5 overs when play was called off, needing 115 off 85 deliveries. When play resumed, D/L was used and Abahani needed to get to a target of 76 in nine overs. 

However, they finished with only 44/6 and Mohammedan won the match by 31 runs.The BCB hasn’t released any official statement yet but bdcrictime reported that the Mohammedan Sporting Club confirmed that Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for four matches. The umpires were also submit to report regarding the incident and the Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) finalised the all-rounder’s punishment. Shakib also apologized to the fans through a statement on his official Facebook page after the match. "Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home. An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens unfortunately," wrote Shakib. "I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won't be repeating this again in the future. Thanks and love you all," he added. The KKR all-rounder is no stranger to controversy. Bangladesh suspended him for six months in 2014 for attitude problems that included a lewd gesture on TV, beating a spectator in the stadium, and travelling to the Caribbean Premier League without a clearance. Also, he was banned by the International Cricket Council for two years in 2019, with one year of that suspended, due to his failure to report corrupt approaches from bookies. He returned to national duty this year against the West Indies.
