With the washout, both teams walked away with a point each. Sri Lanka moved to two points from rained-off matches, while New Zealand advanced to three points. This was the second abandoned game of the tournament in Colombo involving Sri Lanka.

Dark clouds hovered as New Zealand prepared for their chase. Heavy rain halted play for more than two hours. Ground staff worked to make the field playable, and a revised 30-over target was set with a restart scheduled at 9:15 p.m. IST. However, rain returned heavier than before, forcing the umpires to call off the match.

Earlier, Sri Lanka batted first after winning the toss. Captain Chamari Athapaththu scored 53, and opening partner Vishmi Gunaratne made 42. The pair added 101 runs for the first wicket before Sophie Devine dismissed Athapaththu. Gunaratne followed soon after.

The middle order tried to rebuild through Harshitha Samarawickrama and Hasini Perera, who put on 58 runs. Perera was dismissed for 44, while Kavisha Dilhari managed four runs.

Nilakshika de Silva came in at No. 6 and scored a rapid 55 off 28 balls, the fastest fifty of the tournament. She remained unbeaten and helped Sri Lanka reach 258 for six in 50 overs, scoring 80 runs in the final 10 overs.
