CBSE to Release Revised Curriculum for Classes 9–12 for 2026–27 Session

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to unveil the curriculum for the 2026–27 academic session for Classes 9 to 12 on Friday. This updated framework has been designed in accordance with the scheme of studies proposed under the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-2023). The implementation of these revisions will commence with Class 9 in the upcoming academic cycle. The move reflects CBSE’s effort to gradually introduce structural and pedagogical changes in school education, ensuring that the curriculum remains relevant, forward-looking, and aligned with evolving educational standards and national priorities in India’s academic landscape.

To help stakeholders understand the newly introduced changes, CBSE will organise a webinar at 3 pm on the same day. The session will highlight the revised scheme of studies and outline significant modifications included in the opening sections of the Secondary Curriculum (Part I) for 2026–27. Students, teachers, and other interested participants will be able to join the session through an official YouTube link provided by the board. This initiative aims to ensure transparency and clarity, enabling all stakeholders to become familiar with the revised academic structure and expectations before the curriculum is formally adopted in schools.

Once the curriculum is officially released, the complete set of documents will be uploaded to the CBSE Academic Portal for easy access. Schools across the country have been instructed to download the detailed curriculum, including all introductory notes and guidelines, and share them promptly with both teachers and students. This step is intended to facilitate early understanding and preparation. By ensuring timely dissemination of information, CBSE aims to support schools in smoothly transitioning to the updated curriculum, while allowing educators and learners to adapt effectively to the revised academic content and instructional approach.

The board has directed all affiliated schools to make appropriate arrangements to implement the revised curriculum in strict accordance with the prescribed guidelines. Emphasising its objectives, CBSE stated, "The curriculum is aligned with the vision of NCF-2023, with an emphasis on competency-based education, experiential learning, flexibility, and the holistic development of students." Additionally, school leaders have been encouraged to sensitise teaching staff and organise special Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs). These meetings will help inform parents and students about the changes, ensuring better understanding and a seamless rollout from the beginning of the 2026–27 academic session.
