90s actress Shanthipriya was known face in the film industry and in her recent interview to NBT.com the south actress revealed how she was often subjected to rejection due to her skin tone. Speaking to the portal, the former actress recalled how she was often humiliated on the film sets because her makeup would not match her co-star's and shooting would have to be stopped. The actress had further revealed that she felt humiliated on the sets because of the same. She had also recalled one incident when Akshay joked about her knees being darker than usual when she had to wear a short dress during the shoot for Ikke Pe Ikka. Akki repeatedly said that there were blood clots in my knees and all the actors and other members of the crew had a good laugh. Shanthupriya added that the incident left a deep impression on her mind and she also cried over the same.
The former actress also called out racism in Bollywood and said she was thrown out of two films because she refused to wear swimsuits and was told that the character demanded a fair heroine. For the unversed, Shantipriya has worked in in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi language films. Shanthipriya married actor Siddharth Ray in 1999. Siddharth was the grandson of V. Shantaram and has acted in films such as Baazigar and Vansh. They became the parents of two sons within a span of less than five years, before Ray died of a massive heart attack in 2004, at the age of only 40. Shanthipriya made her debut with the Akshay Kumar-starrer Saugandh. She has acted with Mithun Chakraborty in many hit movies such as Mere Sajana Saath Nibhana, Phool Aur Angaar and Meherbaan.
