Alia Bhatt's much awaited film Sadak 2 is all set to premiere on Disney+Hotstar on August 28. The announcement about the same was made by Alia on her Instagram. Earlier, the announcement of the film's release on the digital platform was made during an interactive live event. A sequel of the 1991 hit romantic-thriller Sadak, Sadark 2 stars Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Jishu Sengupta and Gulshan Grover. 

The movie also features Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt, who were part of the original film.The film has been mired in controversy after a complaint was filed against the makers for allegedly hurting hindu sentiments. The complainant claimed that Sadak poster had names of actors and crew over image of Kailash Mansarovar and tended to give prominence to artists and technicians over the place of religious significance. The film which is helmed by Alia's father also stars Aditya Roy Kapur in a key role. Owing to the lockdown, a number of films are releasing direcly on Disney Plus Hotstar. This includes,  Laxmmi Bomb, Bhuj: The Pride of India, The Big Bull, and Khuda Haafiz.
