Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar shared a video on his verified Twitter account on Saturday, defending the film industry against rampant allegations of drug abuse. Admitting the drugs problem prevailed in the film industry, Akshay requested people not to generalize and think that every person associated with Bollywood has drug links.  The superstar also mentioned in his video that any negative news could have a negative impact on a person's reputation and career. Thus, he requested the media to be sensitive while taking names. This didn’t go well with a section of Twitter users, including fans of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Many called for a ban on Akshay’s upcoming movie ‘Laxmmi Bomb’. Akshay's video comes at a time when the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) is investigating the alleged drug links of Bollywood. Actresses Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh were recently summoned by the agency for questioning in the case. Reportedly, NCB wants to establish any possible drugs angle in the death of the Kedarnath actor. s

'Laxmmi Bomb' will be released in theatres in - Australia, New Zealand and UAE - on November 9. In India, the movie is set for a direct-to-digital release on the same day on Disney+ Hotstar. The flick, which also stars Kiara Advani, is a remake of the 2011 Tamil film 'Kanchana' and is directed by Raghava Lawrence, who also helmed the original.
