Health Tips: Why Early Dinner Is the Secret to Better Sleep, Digestion and Energy
Experience fatigue, bloating, and insomnia even after eating healthy, you should change your eating habits. Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a Harvard and Stanford-trained gastroenterologist, also known as Gut Doctor on social media, recently shared a post on Instagram. He stated that the timing of your meals is more important than what you eat or how much you eat. Dr. Sethi has provided more information on this.
Dr. Saurabh Sethi explains that eating late at night disrupts the body's natural biological clock. During this time, insulin sensitivity decreases from 50 percent to 40 percent, making it difficult to control blood sugar. In addition, the fat-burning process slows down.
At night, the body's melatonin hormone increases, which is important for good sleep. When you eat late, this hormonal balance is disrupted, which means the body doesn't get enough time to repair and detoxify itself. This leads to problems like fatigue and bloating in the morning.
Benefits of eating early
Research shows that people who eat dinner before 7 PM have about 15 percent lower blood glucose levels at night. In addition, insulin sensitivity remains good, and there is a positive effect on sleep quality. Eating early gives the body enough time to digest the food, which reduces problems like acid reflux, gas, and indigestion. This also helps in avoiding the habit of eating late at night.

People with diabetes and fatty liver should not have late dinners. Dr. Seth says that patients with diabetes, prediabetes, and fatty liver disease can experience a 30 to 50 percent increase in blood sugar spikes. In such cases, eating early helps maintain better hormonal balance and also helps keep blood sugar under control.
