Individuals who spend time outdoors in the scorching sun, those who are traveling, or those who do not consume enough water are particularly susceptible to these issues. While this may appear to be simple dizziness, it can sometimes be an early sign of heatstroke; therefore, ignoring it could prove dangerous.

The primary cause of heat-induced dizziness is a deficiency of water in the body and an imbalance of electrolytes. Excessive sweating depletes both the body's salt and water reserves. Consequently, blood pressure drops, and the brain does not receive an adequate supply of blood, resulting in dizziness. Additionally, factors such as going without food for long periods, wearing heavy clothing, or staying in enclosed, hot environments can also contribute to dizziness.

To prevent heat-induced dizziness, prioritize hydration by drinking water regularly and consuming beverages like lemon water, buttermilk, or coconut water to maintain electrolyte balance. When outdoors, wear light-colored, loose-fitting cotton clothing and use a hat, scarf, or umbrella for shade. Avoid peak afternoon heat whenever possible, and take shaded breaks if venturing out is necessary. Eat light, nutritious meals, focusing on fruits, salads, and water-rich foods.

If dizziness occurs, immediately sit or lie down in a cool, shaded area with legs slightly elevated to improve circulation. Loosen any tight clothing. Slowly sip water, lemon water, or an Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS). Apply a cool compress to the forehead or neck.
