Beed, Maharashtra (March 31, 2025): A shocking incident has has come to light from Beed district, which has been in the news for violent crimes, including the murder of Massajog village Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh. In Dharur taluka, a man allegedly killed another by smashing his head with a stone to avenge his brother’s death. The deceased has been identified as Swapnil Deshmukh, while the accused is Santosh Deshmukh.

According to police, Santosh Deshmukh’s brother, Avinash Deshmukh, died by suicide two years ago by hanging from a neem tree in their village of Kanhapur. Avinash had allegedly been harassed by Swapnil Deshmukh, which led him to take the extreme step. Santosh had filed a complaint against Swapnil with the police.

Swapnil pressured Santosh to withdraw the case. Frustrated by the situation, Santosh lost control when Swapnil confronted him again. On Sunday night, an argument between them turned into a physical fight. During the altercation, Santosh and his wife attacked Swapnil with a stone. They crushed his head and killed him.

Notably, the murder took place beneath the same neem tree where Avinash had ended his life. Swapnil allegedly attacked Santosh and his wife with a sharp weapon. Both suffered injuries. After the murder, the couple went to the police station. They surrendered and later filed a complaint against Swapnil. Police have started an investigation.
