The BJP Maharashtra Chief Chandrakant Patil during the state BJP working committee meeting made a shocking statement saying that the party is ready join hands with Shiv Sena. However his statement came with a condition attached to it.

During the Maharashtra assembly elections 2019, Sena-BJP together contested the elections. However, Shiv Sena later broke its alliance with the BJP and joined hands with NCP and Congress. The Maha Vikas Aghadi government of Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP was formed in November last year after the BJP failed to prove its majority in the State Assembly.

Patil said for the sake of state's welfare we are willing to come together with Sena. However, they will not fight the elections together, but separately. The BJP leader said that if the Central leadership gives them some formula and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray accepts that the formula, then they will join hands with Sena.

Further taking a swipe, Patil said that Shiv Sena is on cloud 9, therefore, it doesn't seem that they will agree to come together. "Even if we come together, the decision on the Chief Minister's post will be taken by the Centre." "Fighting elections together and then doing opportunistic politics is not right. How will it work when one demands an equal share in the power despite having lesser seats," Patil added.
