A leopard killed a cow in the Poladpur area of Raigad district in Maharashtra, which created panic among locals in the area. The forest department urged people in the area to stay alert. According to The Times of India report, the incident took place in the hilly area of Mahalagur Morewadi.

The cow owner, identified as Ashok More, saw leopard tooth wounds on the neck and deep claw scratches on the stomach of the cow, which was found lying in a pool of blood in the forest area. The big cat had eaten the meat near the cow's tail, which confirmed to the officials that it was a leopard.

Forest officials rushed to the site after receiving the information and conducted an investigation. Officials asked locals not to panic, but stay aware and alert. Appealed to parents not to leave children alone, and avoid travelling alone at night.

However, forest officials from Poladpur did not report any sighting of leopards in the wildlife census conducted last month. However, photos of leopards passing in front of vehicles during the election period went viral in the Kotwal area.
