The TET Teacher Eligibility Test, which has been stalled for the last two years, will be held from September 15 to December 31. Once the candidate clears the exam, it will be valid for life, which is a great relief for the candidates to become teachers. There are over 40,000 vacancies in the state and the state government has decided to fill the vacancies in phases. In the first phase, 6100 seats will be filled.

There are 27,000 vacancies in Zilla Parishad primary schools and 40,000 vacancies in secondary schools in the state. The TET exam had not been held for the past two years due to the coronavirus crisis. The last exam was held in 2018-19. This is likely to increase the number of candidates this year. 7 lakh candidates appear for the exam every year. It is expected to grow by three lakh this year.

School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had on July 8 announced to fill 6,100 posts in the state. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Balasaheb Thorat had approved the proposal to exempt the recruitment process from the ban due to the Corona crisis. Accordingly, it has been decided to conduct TET examination.
