Maharashtra Bus Accident: 2 Dead, 43 Injured as Goa-Bound Bus Overturns in Raigad

A tragic accident took place, in which two people died and 43  injured after private bus overturned near Sukeli village on the Mumbai-Goa National Highway on sharp turn. This incident incident occurred on early hours of Friday April 3, 2026 around 2:30 am. 

According to reports, bus was carrying 45 passengers from Mumbai and Panvel to Goa, lost control on an uphill curve in Sukeli Ghat section and toppled onto its left side. Deceased identified as Naim Nizam Sheikh , a resident of Kamothe, and Neelam Vaibhav Vibhute , a resident of Panvel. All the injured include 43 passengers who sustained varying degrees of injuries.

A high-speed bus accident occurred early this morning when the driver, Hemantkumar Bajirao Patil (36) from Sindhudurg district, allegedly lost control on a sharp turn. The bus overturned, trapping passengers who were subsequently rescued by emergency teams. Police indicate that overspeeding and negligence on the ghat section were likely factors, and a detailed investigation is in progress.

 Twenty injured passengers were taken to the Nagothane Primary Health Centre, four to the Roha Sub-District Hospital, and nineteen to MGM Hospital in Kamothe. A crane was used to move the bus and restore traffic flow on the highway. Police responded to the accident at 2:35 am, and rescue and clearance efforts concluded around 9:00 am. The Nagothane Police are continuing their investigation.
