Maharashtra: Hostels of higher education dept set to be renamed 'Matoshree'

In a major development, boys’ and girls hostels on campuses of Maharashtra's Higher and Technical Education Department will be named ‘Matoshree’.

According to a notification, the existing hostels that do not have any names will be referred to as Matoshree government hostels, boys or girls.

The news hostels that will be built in the coming time by the department will be named Matoshree hostels, it added. 

The hostel facilities offer students shelter like their own mothers it is appropriate to call it ‘Matoshree’ government hostels,” said an official.

Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister is Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's residence name is also Matoshree which is in suburban Bandra in Mumbai.
