Buldhana, Maharashtra (March 31, 2025): A police constable was found murdered in the Deulgaon Raja area of Buldhana district. The victim, identified as Dnyaneshwar Pandurang Mhaske, 38, was a resident of Giroli Khurd village and served in the Jalna police force. He was allegedly strangled by unidentified assailants. Police have registered a case and detained four suspects for questioning. This is the second police officer killed in the district in seven days.

Officer Went Missing After Visiting Hometown

Mhaske had traveled to his native village for Gudi Padwa celebrations on Saturday. Later, he went to Deulgaon Raja for personal work. When he failed to return home by late night, his wife repeatedly called his phone, but he did not respond. She then informed his colleagues, who began searching for him.

Police traced his mobile location and found his car parked near the RJ International School on Sindkhed Raja Road, within the forest department's jurisdiction. Upon arriving at the scene, police officials, including Sub-Divisional Officer Manisha Kadam and Inspector Santosh Mahalle, found Mhaske’s body inside the locked car.

Realising the gravity of the situation, Additional Superintendent of Police visited the site and supervised the investigation. A forensic team and a dog squad were called in. The body was sent for postmortem at the local rural hospital.

Second Police Killing in a Week

Just a week earlier, on March 23, a police officer from Andhera police station was killed while chasing a suspect involved in illegal liquor sales. With two police killings in seven days, concerns have been raised over the safety of law enforcement personnel in the district.

Police sources said four suspects have been detained and are being interrogated. Officials are confident that the case will be solved soon.
