Maharashtra Weather Forecast: Heatwave Conditions Likely in Thane, Raigad, Nashik and Other Districts Until May 15

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday, May 12, has issued its forecast for Maharashtra, predicting heatwave conditions in several parts of the state over the next few days, while Mumbai and nearby areas are expected to experience hot and humid weather.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), heatwave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of South Gujarat and the Saurashtra region on Tuesday, while hot and humid conditions were reported in parts of North Konkan. The weather remained dry across most parts of Maharashtra.

The IMD said maximum temperatures across the region remained above normal, with Surendranagar in Gujarat recording the highest maximum temperature at 45.5 degrees Celsius.

Heatwave in These Districts

In Maharashtra, districts including Thane, Raigad, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune and parts of Marathwada are likely to witness heatwave conditions in isolated pockets between May 12 and May 15.

The weather department has also issued heatwave warnings for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded districts over the next few days.

Mumbai Weather Forecast for Next 48 Hours

Mumbai is expected to witness mainly clear skies with hot and humid conditions in the city and suburbs. The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 35 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may hover around 27 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours.

Maharashtra Rain Update

The IMD said there is no significant rainfall activity expected across Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada during the next seven days, with mainly sunny conditions likely to prevail.

Meanwhile, strong winds were recorded in parts of the state, including Karjat in Raigad district at 43 kmph and Kalwan in Nashik district at 39 kmph.

IMD Advise

The weather department has advised people to avoid prolonged exposure to heat during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated and wear light cotton clothes. Farmers have also been advised to continue irrigation activities and take precautions to protect crops and livestock from extreme heat.

The IMD further said maximum temperatures across interior Maharashtra are likely to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius over the next four days before stabilising.
