MNS has denied reports that MNS chief Raj Thackeray had to pay a fine for not wearing a mask during the Mumbai-Mandwa jetty journey. MNS leader Nitin Sardesai has clarified that nothing like this has happened .

On Monday it was reported that MNS chief Raj Thackeray was fined Rs 1,000 for not wearing a face mask aboard a boat to Mandwa jetty in adjoining Raigad district. Officials on the boat pointed out that he had flouted the COVID-19 norms mandating wearing of mask in public, after which he paid the Rs 1,000 fine, the sources said.

However, MNS leader Nitin Sardesai, in a statement said "no such thing took place" on board the ferry.

TV channel and newspaper reports saying Thackeray was fined for not wearing a mask are baseless, he added.

Nitin Sardesai has posted a letter on twitter clarifying the matter. 'I was with Raj Thackeray during the Mumbai-Mandwa journey. No such incident had taken place at that time, 'said Sardesai.
