The Supreme Court on Wednesday morning ordered a CBI probe into the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and asked Mumbai Police to hand over all evidence collected so far in the case to CBI.

A day after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday assured of full cooperation from the Maharashtra government, and hoped the investigation will not be carried on as it was done in Dr Narendra Dabholkar’s murder case.

“I am sure the Maharashtra Govt will respect the judgement of the Supreme Court to handover Sushant Singh Rajput’s case to the CBI and fully cooperate in the investigation process,” Pawar tweeted

“I hope the investigation will not be carried on, as was done with Dr Narendra Dabholkar’s murder case also under investigation by the #CBI which commenced in 2014 and remains unresolved,” the NCP leader’s another tweet read.

Dabholkar, an anti-superstition activist, was shot dead on August 20, 2013, in Pune.

Meanwhile, the CBI team is expected to land in Mumbai today to investigate the case further. Sushant was found hanging from the ceiling of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14.
