Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh will address a press conference in Mumbai on the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput around 5:30 pm today.

Anil Deshmukh on Friday said, there was no need for a CBI probe into the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput as the Mumbai police were capable of handling the matter.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday slammed the demands for a CBI probe by the Opposition and some Bollywood personalities in the Sushant Singh Rajput case.

"I would like to condemn those who are raising questions over the efficiency of the police. The Mumbai police is not inefficient. If anyone has any proof about the case they can bring it to us and we will interrogate and punish the guilty," said Thackeray.

A team of Bihar Police is in Mumbai to probe the actor's death. An FIR was filed by Sushant Singh Rajput's father KK Singh against actor Rhea Chakraborty in Bihar in connection with the death case under several sections including abetment of suicide.

Rajput was found dead in his Mumbai residence on June 14. A case was registered by the Mumbai Police and is being probed.

According to the Mumbai Police, statements of 41 people, including Rhea Chakraborty, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, film critic Rajeev Masand, director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and filmmaker Aditya Chopra have been recorded in the investigation so far.
