Making Mumbai Metro more convenient for commuters.
Strengthening last-mile connectivity through digital mobility integration.
Metro tickets can now be booked directly through the Uber app via ONDC, helping citizens plan their journeys easily and…
The integration of Metro ticketing with Uber marks a major step in Maharashtra’s push for robust digital public infrastructure under the Digital India mission. With nearly 3.5 lakh daily commuters using Lines 2A and 7, the introduction of discounted, app-based ticketing is expected to significantly reduce queues and encourage paperless travel. Authorities highlighted that this growing ecosystem will continue to expand, offering commuters more choices and improving accessibility as additional platforms join the ONDC network in the coming months.
Metro ticket booking was already available across multiple ONDC-enabled platforms such as Yatri, Ixigo, Navi, EaseMyTrip, Tummoc, Tripozo, OneTicket, RedBus, Highway Delite and Pelocal. With Uber now added to this list, commuters have greater flexibility to choose their preferred app for ticket purchases. In addition, services like the Mumbai One App, Mumbai One Card, and WhatsApp-based ticketing continue to provide alternative digital options, ensuring a smooth and convenient experience for users who rely on different platforms for their daily travel needs.
Authorities are also focusing on improving first and last-mile connectivity to complement Metro services. Efforts are underway to enhance links with BEST buses, upgrade foot overbridges, and expand parking facilities near stations. The Uber integration further strengthens this ecosystem by allowing commuters to combine Metro travel with cab services in a single app, making journey planning more efficient. This seamless connectivity is expected to reduce travel time and eliminate multiple booking steps for daily commuters navigating the city.
Currently rolled out for Lines 2A and 7, the feature will soon be extended to upcoming routes such as Mumbai Metro Line 2B and Mumbai Metro Line 9. The initiative builds on earlier milestones like the launch of the Mumbai One common mobility platform and ONDC integration, reflecting a broader vision to create a fully connected urban transport network. By combining convenience, affordability, and digital innovation, MMRDA aims to make commuting in Mumbai greener, quicker, and more effortless for everyone.
