Mumbai: Senior Inspector and PSI of Kurar Police Station Suspended After Arrest in Corruption Case

In a major action against corruption, two senior police officers posted at Kurar Police Station have been suspended with immediate effect after being caught red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe. The action was taken following a trap operation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).

The suspended officers have been identified as Sanjeev Baliram Tawde, Senior Police Inspector, and Dnyaneshwar Govindrao Junne, Police Sub-Inspector.

According to information received from Mumbai Police, the action was initiated based on a complaint lodged on February 18, 2026. The complainant had alleged that the officers demanded a bribe in exchange for performing an official task.

The ACB verified the complaint in the presence of independent witnesses, during which the demand for bribe was confirmed. Subsequently, a trap was laid and PSI Dnyaneshwar Junne was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount from the complainant.

A case has been registered against both officers under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. They were arrested on February 19, 2026.

Considering the seriousness of the offence and the pending departmental inquiry, suspension orders were issued against both officers. They were formally served with suspension orders on February 24, 2026.
