In a tragic accident in Andheri, a 46-year-old man died after being accidentally hit by a tempo driven by his own son while parking the vehicle in a basement parking area. The MIDC Police have registered a case against the son for causing death due to negligent driving.

The deceased has been identified as Ramdeen Sundar Yadav (46), while the accused son is Shubham Ramdeen Yadav. The incident took place around 4 pm on Wednesday at Vasant Oasis, located in the basement parking area of the BMC Pay and Park facility on Makwana Road in Marol, Andheri.

According to police, Hemkant Jaywant Kini, attached to the MIDC Police Station as a police havaldar, was on patrol duty along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Hanmant Babar, Police Havaldar Walhekar and Woman Police Constable Nanaware when they received information from the West Control Room regarding an accident at the Vasant Oasis parking area.

Upon reaching the spot, police found a man lying seriously injured after being hit by a six-wheeler Tata Ashok Leyland tempo. The victim was unconscious, while a young man was sitting beside him.

During inquiry, the youth identified himself as Shubham Yadav and informed police that the injured man was his father, Ramdeen Yadav. Police immediately shifted the victim to Cooper Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

During questioning, Shubham told police that he and his father had arrived at the BMC parking facility after transporting goods from Sahar Cargo in Vile Parle. While parking the tempo inside the basement, Ramdeen was guiding him by giving directions to move the vehicle forward and backward.

However, during the process, Shubham allegedly lost control after his foot accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the tempo to ram into his father with force. The vehicle reportedly stalled after the collision, and Shubham tried to rescue his father but failed.

Police said Ramdeen suffered severe head injuries. Shubham reportedly shouted for help, but no one came to assist until police arrived at the scene.

Based on the complaint filed by police havaldar Hemkant Kini, the MIDC Police registered a case against Shubham Yadav for negligent driving leading to the death of his father. He was later detained for questioning.

Police sources said Shubham was deeply traumatised after the accidental death of his father in the incident.
