Mumbai : Witness in Abhishek Ghosalkar Murder Case Receives Death Threat Over Group Chat
A fresh twist has emerged in the high-profile murder case of former corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar, as a key witness, Lalchand Pal, has allegedly received a death threat via a group chat. Acting on his complaint, the MHB police have registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the matter.
According to the complaint, the threat was issued in a WhatsApp group during a discussion about Tejaswi Ghosalkar, wife of the deceased leader. A chilling message, accompanied by a photo of Abhishek Ghosalkar, read: “Lalchand, learn a lesson from this. Don’t get his wife killed, Lalchand. You will meet the same fate.” The message was reportedly sent in the "Garib Nawaz Niyaz Committee" group, sparking concerns over the safety of the witness.
Abhishek Ghosalkar, son of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Vinod Ghosalkar, was murdered on February 8, 2024. In the aftermath of his killing, his wife Tejaswi Ghosalkar has been at the center of several discussions, during which the alleged threat surfaced.
Taking cognizance of the seriousness of the situation, the MHB police have booked the unidentified accused under IPC Section 506(2) for criminal intimidation. Investigators have launched a search for the person responsible and are probing all possible angles in the case.
Preliminary investigations point towards a suspect named Sharif, who is believed to have a long-standing dispute with Lalchand Pal. Sources suggest that this conflict could be the motive behind the threat. The police are now gathering further evidence and verifying the claims before taking further action.
